The Book Of Boba Fett ‘From The Desert Comes A Stranger’ Review

Released this week, episode 6 of The Book of Boba Fett premiered titled ‘From the Desert Comes a Stranger.’ We start off the episode with Cobb Vanth encountering a group of Pykes making an exchange; Vanth kills most of them leaving one alive to tell the Pykes to stay out of Mos Pelgo and leave the spice. Later, Din Djarin arrives to a planet and encounters R2-D2 asking him for Skywalker. Djarin and R2 arrive to a still under construction school and waits for Skywalker. Elsewhere on the planet, Luke Skywalker and Grogu are undergoing training. However, Grogu is still attached to Djarin in a way that distracts him from meditating and other training exercises. Luke shows off some of the abilities of a Jedi to inspire Grogu. He also helps Grogu remember his home, a memory from the Jedi Temple on Coruscant during Order 66. Grogu wakes up from the memory and Luke shows him the vast landscape of the planet explaining about the galaxy being a dangerous place. He will train and protect him. Back to Djarin, Ahsoka Tano appears and tells him that R2 brought him to her. She asks him about the reason for showing up noting that it will cause further issue with Grogu. Since he is still attached, the two take a walk closer towards Skywalker and Grogu training in the distance. Djarin aware that it will cause issues with Grogu, leaves the foundling armor with Ahsoka and leaves. Afterward, Grogu begins to show his training reemerging as Skywalker and Tano talk. Luke tells Ahsoka if it was the right decision to have taken Grogu in as he is heart in the right place. Ahsoka tells him that is something his father, Anakin said as well but its up to Luke to trust his instincts. On another planet, Djarin arrives to Tatooine and pays a visit to Mos Espa to see Boba Fett. Explaining the situation and the need for more muscle as foot soldiers, Djarin states that he knows a place. Flying towards Mos Pelgo to see Cobb Vanth, he is told the town has renamed itself as Freetown. However, the townsfolk desire to no longer fight but Djarin gives a good reason to fight as the Pyke will soon arrive to Freetown. Djarin leaves as Vanth will think about it, Vanth tells the bartender to notify all able-bodied townsfolk to prepare for a meeting. Soon after in the distance, Vanth tells people outside to head inside as a mysterious stranger slowly gets closer to the town. To experienced viewers, it turns out to be Cad Bane. A dangerous bounty hunter who threatens Vanth to decide not to help Boba Fett. By paying more than what they would, explain Boba Fett’s history with the Empire and even threatening death. A quick shootout occurs with Vanth going down in one shot while his deputy is repeatedly shot down. Bane leaves as the townsfolk rush to aid Vanth. Back on Mos Espa, Pykes pay a visit to the Sanctuary only to have left a bomb. Finally, returning to Luke Skywalker and Grogu as a decision begins to be presented. Luke shows Grogu the armor Djarin left for him as well as showing him the lightsaber of Grand Master Yoda. Leaving Grogu and us in a cliffhanger.

‘From the Desert Comes a Stranger’ is an absolute banger of a episode for Star Wars and newcomers being directed by Dave Filoni (Star Wars Clone Wars and Rebels showrunner). It continues with the previous episode having less of a focus with Boba Fett and more preparing us for the coming war. Bringing back Cobb Vanth, Din Djarin, R2-D2, Luke Skywalker, Grogu, Ahsoka Tano, and Cad Bane. What an incredible and beautiful episode having us transport through various planets and perspectives. Making it feel intertwined in a way that pulls the viewer in with less of a breather. Breathtaking. Furthermore, the explosion at the Sanctuary on Mos Espa and Cobb Vanth seemingly dead. As well as leaving Grogu at the last moment in the episode to decide his fate. What could be the next move for the story overall? Note, Ahsoka Tano also left Luke Skywalker and says perhaps they’ll meet again. For Boba Fett’s case, would she be presented as an ally for the war? Either way, this is intense!

It earns a 5 out of 5.
